The Marcella Dress Waistcoat sets the standard for those very important occasions when you need to look your best. Marcella, refers to a weaving style, normally used with cotton yarn, which is characterized by raised parallel cords or fine ribbing giving a 'golf ball' effect. Wedding Waistcoat's Marcella Waistcoats are cotton rich, this a very important attribute because the Marcella weave was created to take extra starch and there is no finer yarn than cotton for starching. The result – a stunning well starched formal dress waistcoat.
The Marcella weave is part of the classic White Tie outfit, some accounts even say the fabric was invented specifically for this use. White tie (or evening dress, full evening dress) is the most formal evening dress code. It is worn to events such as balls, the opera, and formal dinners. The chief components for men are the dress coat, white bow tie and waistcoat, and starched shirt, while women wear a suitable dress for the occasion, such as a ball gown.
'White tie' is worn only to events after six o'clock and before that time the daytime equivalent called morning dress is worn. The semi-formal counterparts of white tie are black tie in the evening and, rarely worn, semi-formal morning dress during the day, a code in between an informal lounge suit and full morning dress. The dress coat worn with white tie is a descendent of the coat worn at all times of day in the Regency period, so is also part of other related codes, such as civilian day court dress in the Royal court (in the UK). Our wedding waistcoat and cravat sets are coded with the prefix WWC these are snug fitting so be accurate with your sizing.
Shantung, Satin and Silk wedding waistcoats are a generous loose fitting, so if you want something a little tighter fit go down a size.
Men's Satin and polyester Shantung are prefixed WW then a code number for example WW1864/3 To find a matching Cravat use the prefix WCR and then the same number for example WCR1864/3
To find a matching boy's waistcoat use the prefix WWY for example WWY1864/3. To find a matching boy's Cravat use the prefix YCR for example YCR1864/3
